Since 2013, Francesco Fatone raised more than 5 million euros from EU-funded projects and more than 0.5 from private funding.

Prof. Eng. Anna Laura EUSEBI
Associate Professor of Sanitary Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Marche
Her expertise is mainly applied in demonstration and full-scale plants with collaborations or coordination of about 40 applied research commissioned by water utilities, water industries and public authorities. Anna Laura has been part of the research team in 5 H2020 European projects and other several local, national and international R&D&I projects.

Eng. Massimiliano SGROI
Assistant Professor of Sanitary Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Marche
PhD in Environmental Engineering in 2014 at the University of Catania. Visiting scholar at the University of Arizona – Bio5 Institute (USA) from 2011 to 2013. He is involved in several EU projects (i.e., AquaSPICE, ULTIMATE, PROMISCES, DWC) dealing with reuse of industrial wastewater, fate of PFAS during leachate and dradged sediments treatment.

Eng. Josue GONZALEZ-CAMEJO
PostDoc researcher at the Polytechnic University of Marche
Chemical Engineer (University of La Laguna, Spain) and Master in Environmental Engineering (University of Valencia, Spain). In November 2019, he obtained his PhD in Water Engineering and Environment in the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain). His main research topics are related to sustainable wastewater treatment processes, cultivation of microalgae, membrane filtration and microplastics.

Eng. Alessia FOGLIA
Research fellow at the Marche Polytechnic University
Graduated in Civil Engineering at Polytechnic University of Marche with a thesis concerning the study of Anaerobic MBRs and advanced post-treatment for municipal wastewater treatment and fertigation. In her PhD program she was involved in i) anaerobic membrane bioreactor and water reuse, ii) resource recovery from wasterwater and sludge and iii) carbon footprint assessment of the wastewater treatment service.

Eng. Nicolò Ciuccoli
PhD student at the Marche Polytechnic University
M.S. degree in “Computer and Automation Engineering” cum laude in 2015 and Ph.D. degree in 2019 with a thesis titled “Intelligent systems for the exploration of structured and complex environments”, both at Polytechnic University of Marche.
At WWEELab his main research activities includes modeling of wastewater treatment plants. He is being involved in the EU Projects “Green Bubble”, “Lab4Dive”, “Divesafe”, “Digital Water City”, ”Hydrousa”, “Aquaspice” and “Ultimate”.
Eng. Serena RADINI
PhD student at the Marche Polytechnic University
Graduated in Civil Engineering at Polytechnic University of Marche with a thesis concerning the “Experimental analyses and design of processes and plants for territorial sewage sludge valorization centres”. Her main activities focus on online data co-processing and on water-energy-carbon-food-ecosystem nexus assessment in integrated urban water reuse systems, in the context of the European project “DWC ‐DIGITALWATER.city”.

Eng. Enrico MARINELLI
PhD student at the Marche Polytechnic University
His main activities are related to the Water-Energy Nexus, eco-innovative, natural and digital-based solutions, energy audit and carbon footprint assessment in WWTPs. These studies are mainly applied in the context of the European projects H2020 : “HYDROUSA” & “DWC ‐DIGITALWATER.city”.

Graduated in Civil Engineering at Polytechnic University of Marche with a thesis concerning the “Experimental analysis of environmental impacts of combined sewer overflows and possible mitigation measures”. His main activities focus on implementation of circular waste recovery solutions for decontamination and eco-efficient recovery of dredging sediments. Eng. Cecilia BRUNI
PhD student at the Marche Polytechnic University
Graduated in Civil Engineering at Polytechnic University of Marche with the thesis: “Integrated solid and liquid urban waste management In Ancona province: material flow analyses and eco-efficient treatments”. Her research interests are focused on treatment and valorization of wastewater, organic waste, and secondary sewer flows, for the purpose of maximizing recovery processes and minimizing environmental impacts. She is involved in the European projects: H2020 “ULTIMATE” and ENI CBC MED “DECOST”.

Dr. Nicola LANCIONI
PhD candidate at the Marche Polytechnic University
Graduated in Environmental Engineering at Polytechnic University of Marche with a thesis regarding the “Technological and nature-based solutions to close water loops: replicability studies within HORIZON2020 HYDROUSA”. His research area involves R&D&I of technological solutions for circular management of wastewater. He is currently involved in the HORIZON 2020 project PROMISCES.

Eng. Corinne ANDREOLA
PhD student at the Marche Polytechnic University
Graduated in Environmental Engineering at the UNIVPM, with a thesis on the “Set-up of water reuse technologies and risk management plans in Mediterranean rural and urban areas”. Its main research activity concerns “eco-technological and digital innovations for circular bio-economy in agro-industry and urban services”. She contributes to creating a “biorefinery” concept using the leftovers from a seafood processing industry, within the H2020 EU project SEA2LAND.

Dr. Marco Parlapiano
Chemist, PhD candidate at the Marche Polytechnic University
In 2015 he achieved his master’s degree in Chemistry and Advanced Chemical Methodologies (LM-24) in the University of Camerino (MC), with a thesis titled: “One-pot synthesis of polyfunctionalized pyrroles”. Since 2020, he is a Ph.D. student in Environmental Engineering and his main activities concern the optimization of adsorption and biolological processes to lead treatment train with a final higher quality of water to be reused (AquaSPICE and ULTIMATE projects).

Graduated in Journalism & Audiovisual Communication at University Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid (Spain). Diploma in Community Management. Currently she is the coordinator of the communication strategy and assistant in the project management of the WWEELab research group (UNIVPM) that manages several research projects funded by the main EU research programmes: HORIZON 2020, PRIMA Initiative, WATER JPI, LIFE, ENI CBC MED, Climate-KIC COSME.

In July 2020, she graduated in Civil Engineering at Polytechnic University of Marche with a thesis concerning the “Study and validation of environmental impact of combined sewer overflows in coastal area: the case of Cupra Marittima ”. Currently, her main activity consists of modeling the sewer network in order to evaluate the enviromental impact of combined sewer overflows.
Dr. Vittorio Maceratesi
Research Fellow at the Marche Polytechnic University
In July 2017, he graduated in Industrial Chemistry at Bologna University with a thesis concerning composite materials. He has more than three years of work experience about materials characterization with a focus on plastic, rubber and woddy materials. His main research involves the thermochimical valorisation of fish wastes to obtain biochar used as soil conditioner. Another research topic is the aging of polyethilene holes by chlorine bioxide effect.
